Team-building with curling? Video included

Summer season is over and another curling season has started. For our curling club, it means another busy corporate event season. Curling Tallinn started its activity in Tondiraba Ice Hall in autumn 2014, and since then well more than 1 200 companies have visited us. On average company event consist of 15 people. It means throughout five seasons, more than 18 000 people have tried curling. We are especially happy that we see more and more companies that are coming back every season. Among them are companies who come every year once or more to curl and it has become a habit to play curling during the winter season.

Curling, as a company and motivational event, has become part of winter activities. Compared to cross-country skiing season, which lasts a few months in Estonia if even that, curling season starts in September and lasts until late May. It means curling is not just a seasonal activity. According to our statistics, the busiest month for company events is December, followed by March, January, April and February. Even in May, we have more company events than in October.

Who can play curling? Curling is a wealthy sport because everybody can play the game. Our clients are companies, school groups, men, women, youth, wheelchair players, seniors, local championships and international tournaments organizers, birthday events etc. We can introduce curling for groups of 6 people to events for 100+ people. Depending on the size of the group, we will find a way how to organize an appropriate gathering for you.

Why curling as a corporate of team-building event? If you are planning to organize an event for your people, that:

a) everybody can be part of;
b) includes sporting activity;
c) would help to develop your teamwork and communication,

then curling as a corporate event is meeting all these criteria’s.

Why you should think of curling as your corporate event:

  • Taking care of your health and doing sports is “IN”. Who other besides us are responsible for our health?
  • Curling is for everybody;
  • As an indoor activity there are no weather risks involved for our clients;
  • At Curling Tallinn we can provide the best curling conditions in the region;
  • Good team-building activity. Many of our clients are startup companies who have employees from very different cultural backgrounds. Curling helps to bond, and at the same time it’s still exotic for many of us;
  • You can add some extras to your event (conference rooms, catering, sauna etc.);
  • You don’t have to worry about the equipment. Curling stones and – brushes, as well as special shoes, are from us. You and your people have to come to the curling arena wearing comfortable leisurewear;
  • Don’t worry – our office staff and instructors take care of your event! You can relax and enjoy.

When to choose package “Introduction to Curling”? If your group size is 6 to 10 people we recommend package “Introduction to Curling”. During the two hour session, we will give the participants an overview of the sport of curling and its basic rules. We will also introduce the equipment, demonstrate various sliding techniques as well as provide some tips on how and when to use the broom. During the second half of the session, we will also play a few ends of curling.

When to choose package “Road to Olympics”? We recommend this package for groups starting from 11+ people (to have as a minimum four teams of three people). As this package is three hours, it gives us more time to introduce the game in more detail. Motivate your employees/clients/friends by offering them a curling tournament or challenge your competitors and decide the best team based on the principle of fair play. We can organize a full-scale tournament for your company. Before the game begins, we will provide an overview of the sport and its rules, introduce the equipment and show you sliding techniques and how and when to use the brush. After that, we help to divide the group into teams and organize a full tournament that meets all requirements. The session will end up with the presentation of medals and diplomas to top three teams and of course, the trophy for the winner.

Our instructors are fluent in Estonian, Finnish, Russian and English. Please let us know your preferred language beforehand!

Great experience
“The first curling experience for our 9-member team was great. Forty minutes of learning was enough to enjoy the game for the next two hours. Many thanks to our instructor! We recommend to everyone!” Fujitsu Estonia team

Brilliant place for a team event!
“We went there with a 25-member team, and every one of us had fun! The instructor was beneficial and friendly, and two hours of curling flew past very quickly. We are planning to visit Curling Tallinn in the future as well!”,
Ingrid

Awesome team event venue!
“We went there with a 7-person team as a team-building exercise, wanting to do something different, exciting and unique, and we got precisely this. Curling is awesome – just the right mix between challenging and easy-going. The facilities there are very modern but cosy, so you feel like an actual athlete (or close enough). Also, massive props to our instructor Karin, she was a gem of a person – fun, well informed and active. Everyone had wicked fun, and we left with a fever – the only cure is more curling! So if you are looking for a rootin’ tootin’ good time with a group, with the added benefit of doing exercise while having fun, I recommend this 1001%.” Pipedrive

So much fun
“None of us had ever tried curling before, but we were looked after very well, and we had such a fun time! It’s great for people of all abilities. You don’t have to be super athletic to enjoy it. An entertaining way to spend a couple of hours, I would do it again. Everyone we dealt with from booking to instruction was great too, very welcoming and helpful.”
